It is very important that Premier League fans don’t think that it will only be Manchester City that will come back to win the league again this season. The EPL is still far from enjoying the parity of some of the American major leagues, but there does seem to be more top teams able to compete for the top prize.
There is more money than ever before in the EPL, and the clubs that can spend and sell wisely can count themselves in with a chance. This is a situation that has to be good for the entire league, as greater competition makes for a better spectacle. One team winning the league every year, as is the case in France and Germany, is not good for the development of the game.
Keep an Eye on New Faces
The summer is always a time for a number of players to switch between clubs in the Premier League. There are also new arrivals from other top leagues across Europe and the rest of the world. But the batch of newcomers who may have the biggest say on the outcome of the league this season are the new head coaches.
Eight EPL teams will be under new stewardship this season, with many of the biggest clubs beginning a new era. Tough Times Return for Promoted Teams
There is still a gulf between clubs in the EPL, however, and it is usually at the very bottom of the table where it is most evident. For a long time, it was rare for two promoted clubs to immediately return to the Championship. But last season broke a two-year streak where all three promoted teams were relegated.
Leeds and Sunderland both stayed up in the end, but it might not be the case for Coventry, Ipswich, and Hull this season. Coventry and Ipswich have both spent a lot of money already this summer in the hope of staying up, but they will find it just as difficult as Hull to compete at the very highest level.
