Ascot 14.30
\r\nLe Brivido and Dream Castle lead the way in the betting stakes at best prices of 7/2 and 4/1 respectively. Le Brivido was previously an unbeaten choice but lost that record in the French 2000 Guineas when coming a close second to Bramelot. It’s important to note that this is a drop in trip for Le Brivido at 7f and also for second favourite Dream Castle. Dream Castle came fifth in the 2000 Guineas but put on a respectable showing at that distance and will benefit from the drop down here. Winnings Way, Chessman and Mubtasim are all potential E/W options at 20/1 or better, but it’s Dream Castle that’s catching the eye most here. In just three runs, Dream Castle has picked up a first and second place at this distance and performed well when quickly tested over 1m. Even the second place at 7f to Barney Roy was an impressive showing and deserved better. Dream Castle gets the nod here.

Ascot 15.05
\r\nHappy Like A Fool is adjudged to be head and shoulders above the rest here but strong challenges could come from Heartache, Formidable Kitt and even a nice E/W option in 16/1 best priced Out Of The Flames and Neola. Happy Like A Fool has shortened from 9/4 to 11/10 at most bookmakers but despite the drop in price remains the most realistic option. The runner of Wes Wards is looking to make it a happy hat-trick after Lady Aurelia and Acapulco won here in the previous two editions. Just the one run so far saw Happy Like A Fool display sheer power, leading halfway and pulling away to win by 4l over 4½F. The short step up in distance here could be met with just as much ease.

Ascot 15.40

Smart Call at 4/1 and Qemah at 2/1 have received 25.4% and 19.3% of the overall betting action respectively. Qemah, Smart Call and Usherette looked well placed to challenge with a string of first placed finishes each at this distance, but neither have recorded a win this season yet. Mix and Mingle has two wins to their name from two starts this season and interestingly topped Qemah by 2 and ½ lengths on that occasion. Laugh Aloud and opening favourite is a NR which may make way for Qemah here. At 7f and 8f Qemah has recorded a top three finish in the last seven including three wins and looks more than ready for this step up. However Smart Call had the pace in the closing stages when a strong runner back home last time out and runs for Sir Michael Stoute and a stable who have a strong record here. Smart Call is the smart call.

Pick: Smart Call @ 4/1 with Paddy Power

\r\nAscot 16.20
\r\nJust the eight runners will contest the 16.20 at Ascot which makes proceedings a little more straightforward. With bookmakers paying three places no one other than 32/1 priced Scottish and 65/1 shot Johannes Vermeer are really worth an each way, but clearly look unlikely to be one of the front runners here. Highland Reel is shortening considerably and is expected to cope well with the expected pace here, but has been drawn in stall six which damages the chances slightly. That may well be overcome by the fact Highland Reel is facing a drop back in trip here and was a comfortable winner in the Coronation Cup. Highland Reel has won five in five when priced at 5/2 or shorter and could shorten further here.

\r\n\r\n

Pick: Highland Reel @ 5/2 with Bet365

Ascot 17.00
\r\nA field in excess of 25 will compete here and whilst most bookies offer five places on each-way selections, some are tight enough to offer four. It’s worth noting that Paddy Power, Betway and Sky Bet pay six places here. The selection here is given as an each-way bet. This is a strong renewal with Banksea, Fastnet Tempest, El vip, G K Chesterton and  Tabarrak all having first placed finishes to their name this season. Ballet Concerto should be given a good ride by Ryan Moore and has placed in five of six, winning over 8F this season and is a popular selection in the 17.00.

\r\n\r\n

Pick: Ballet Concerto E/W @ 13/1 with Sky Bet

Ascot 17.35
\r\nRain Goddess has put forward a good effort against stiff competition this season. Finishes of 7th, 4th and 5th don’t tell the full story as she was only beaten by four lengths in the French Guineas and put on a strong challenge. She seemed to lack a bit of the pace required over 7f but should be a stayer here at 1m. A large chunk of cash is on bigger priced selections here but Rain Goddess is most bet on individual having seen 12% of the action. Gymnaste, Queen of Time and On Her Toes could challenge with wins and second place finishes between them this season, but Rain Goddess gets the nod here, as here stable have a strong record when dropping down and have been targeting this race for Rain Goddess.

\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n

Pick: Rain Goddess @ 9/1 with William Hill
