Horse racing tips: Wednesday's ITV 7 from Kempton Park

The ITV 7 breaks new ground in covering the entire Wednesday evening meeting at Kempton's all-weather track, from where our racing writer Jake Russell offers his best selections

5.30pm Kempton

There could be a slight question mark on the trip for Brian Toomey's Wake Up Harry who drops to the 6-furlong distance for the first time since December 2022, but he has been in pretty decent form of late, so that could speak for something here.

Although maybe a few others would be suited to this 6 furlong trip, I think the long home straight of Kempton could play to Wake Up Harry's strengths, especially on the stamina front, plus a few of these haven't picked up the winning thread in their recent runs.

Brian Toomey's 6yo gelding arrives here in good form after a nice win at Wolverhampton last time, and he did win at this track by 2 lengths back in December, and had something in hand that day.

If the drop down in trip will suit, I can't see the 3lb raise in the weights from last time's success being too much of an issue for the Harry Redknapp-owned horse.

6.00pm Kempton

This is a really tricky contest, with a few of them from trainers who might like to have a little bit of a gamble pre-race so it could pay to keep an eye on the market.

With that being said, keep an eye on Bora Bora as John Butler does like a nice little gamble, and given Bora Bora’s recent record, it kind of fits the John Butler gamble bill.

Yet to win for his new yard, he was once trained by Mick Appleby and did win over the extended mile trip at Wolverhampton. He came a nice 3rd last time out over 6 furlongs, which was actually his first run over that trip. He did well to claim 3rd spot given the circumstances during the race, and I think he will go two places better here this evening. But remember to keep a close eye on the market before the race.

6.30pm Kempton

If I was on the course for this contest I would be all over Media Shooter, who ran a very nice 2nd over course and distance last time in what was probably a harder contest than this. The Karl Burke son of Advertise has not finished out of the first three in three runs since changing owners and Pompey Ventures look to have a very nice and fun type on their hands here with Media Shooter.

A very good 3rd on his first start, he then backed that up with a nice victory over course and distance in February before coming a decent 2nd in a better class of contest just two weeks later on.

As mentioned that was a much better contest than this evening's race, therefore I would fully expect the Karl Burke horse to go one better today and get the winning thread back.

7.00pm Kempton

Probably not the strongest contest we are likely to see, and there looks to be a pretty well-fancied runner at the top end of the marker for Amada Perrett who takes a slight step down in grade this evening.

Freetodream probably didn't get the rub of the green in his last run when 5th at Lingfield, slowly away and was slightly outpaced very early on, which can happen at Lingfield as it is a very speedy track. Kempton will suit this horse a fair bit more as it is a real galloping track, especially with the long home straight, which will definitely suit this horse, as his only other win was at Brighton, another true galloping test down the home straight.

He is yet to win on the all-weather surface, but I feel his time will come soon, and the fact there has been some support for this horse at the head of the market, a tentative vote will go his way to carry top weight to victory this evening.

7.30pm Kempton

This is a real minefield of a contest, probably one of the trickier contests to decipher on the card at Kempton this evening, therefore I will be siding with one of the in-form horses in the race, Fieldsman

With recent form figures of 31221, two of those victories have been under today's pilot Jack Doughty who looks to be another decent enough young rider in the weighing room who is still learning his trade.

All of his recent good runs have been at Wolverhampton and Southwell, so a slightly different test this evening, but he clearly holds the winning thread and was a very good 3rd last time out at Wolverhampton, only beaten by half a length in the end and was just beaten for 2nd at the shadow of the post.

Running off the same mark here in a similar contest, if this horse can handle the new track which he hasn't run at since last January when coming 5th, then I can firmly see him being there or thereabouts come the finish.

8.00pm Kempton

Jack Jones's Rouge Dream showed absolutely nothing before coming 2nd on handicap debut at Wolverhampton just 3 days ago on her first run at the 7-furlong trip. She was campaigned over 5 and 6 furlongs before that, when running in novice contests, so she doesn't look the usual handicap mark plot job type, maybe has found her level for now.

Looking at her last run, that was a pretty decent effort and she was just beaten by a more fancied rival on the day, a horse that was fairly well supported and was in a similar position to her this evening. She runs off the same mark of 50 here, and if she can reproduce that effort from last time, and the quick turnaround has no effect, then I fully expect her to go one better here this evening, before maybe taking another step forward as she progresses with racing.

There are a few unexposed sorts in the contest, but what Rogue Dream showed last time out suggests she is more than capable of landing a contest of this nature.

8.30pm Kempton

The last contest of the evening, and you couldn't have asked for a trickier race to end on - there is a pretty well fancied market leader in Crazy Maisie for Mark Hoad, but I quite like the look of his other runner here in the shape of Forever Proud, with young Liam Wright claiming 7lbs onboard.

There isn't much between them on ratings, Forever Proud is just 1lb lower than her stablemate, but the claim that jockey Liam gets could be very valuable for this daughter of Sioux Nation, who has been running well recently, with all of her runs coming at Lingfield.

She was a winner two starts ago with the same jockey on board, and then ran a decent 3rd last time out over course and distance once again. She takes on a slightly different discipline here, but given she is in very good form lately, I can see her getting her head in front once again for the All Weather Racing Club.
