PSG: In Unstoppable Form
Paris Saint-Germain have arguably been the most in-form team in Europe recently, and it seems like nothing can stop the French champions. They are on a 22-match unbeaten streak across all competitions, and their only loss this year came in a narrow 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich, and since then, their only draw was a 1-1 against Reims.
Luis Enrique's team, which was outside the play-off spots before the final two group-stage games, have come alive, crushing opponents left and right. After a 4-2 win over Manchester City and a 4-1 victory against VfB Stuttgart, PSG's unstoppable momentum continued in the knockout stage with a 3-0 win over Brest away and a dominant 7-0 victory at home in the return leg. This remarkable form saw PSG score 21 goals and concede just 3 over five consecutive Champions League wins.
PSG haven’t won six consecutive matches in the Champions League since the 1994/1995, and they have now scored at least three goals in each of their last five games. In their most recent league match, they defeated Lille 4-1, with all four goals coming in the first half, before saving energy for the Liverpool clash.
Luis Enrique has no major injury concerns and can rotate his squad as needed. Marquinhos will play his 100th Champions League match, becoming the fourth Brazilian to reach that milestone, following Roberto Carlos, Dani Alves, and Thiago Silva.
Up front, PSG's attacking trio of Kvaratskhelia, Barcola, and Dembele have been in fantastic form. Dembele has scored 16 goals since the start of the year, and Barcola has 7 goals and 9 assists in 2025.
Liverpool: The English Challenge
Liverpool, unlike PSG, progressed directly to the knockout stages of the Champions League, finishing top of the qualification group. The Reds were flawless in their first seven group-stage matches, winning every game and could be excused for losing their final outing 3-2 at PSV, where manager Arne Slot took the opportunity to rotate his squad.
Liverpool now face their biggest challenge yet, as they visit Europe’s most in-form team of 2025. History is not in their favour, as Slot's side have lost their last three knockout-stage games in the Champions League, all to Real Madrid. Four of Liverpool's last five defeats have been at the hands of the Spanish giants, with the fifth coming from a surprising 1-0 loss at home to Inter Milan after beating them 2-0 away.
Liverpool haven’t won in France in their last five attempts, with their most recent success coming in 2008, when they beat Marseille 2-1 at the Stade Vélodrome. Slot, however, is unbeaten in his three encounters with French teams, registering two wins and one draw.
Liverpool’s attack is led by the exceptional Mohamed Salah, who has been a standout performer this season. The Egyptian has scored 3 goals and provided 4 assists in his 7 Champions League appearances. In the Premier League, he has 25 goals and 17 assists in 28 outings. He is likely to be joined in attack by Szoboszlai, Gakpo, and Luis Diaz.
Previous Encounters
The two teams met in the 2018/19 Champions League, with each winning on home soil. PSG triumphed 2-1 at the Parc des Princes, while Liverpool secured a 3-2 victory at Anfield.
Betting Suggestions:
- PSG to Win: Given their recent form, PSG wil kick off as favourites.
- Over 2.5 Goals: Both teams have been involved in high-scoring games recently, so a bet on over 2.5 goals is likely.
- Both Teams to Score: Liverpool’s attack is potent with Salah, and PSG's offence is on fire.
- Mohamed Salah to Score Anytime: Salah has been the standout player for Liverpool, and he’s always a threat.
