Stuttgart's Challenge

Stuttgart face a very tough match at home against the most in-form team in the Bundesliga. A victory for the hosts could see them climb to 4th place, but that seems unlikely. Currently sitting in 7th spot with 36 points after 23 games, Stuttgart are 22 points behind their powerful opponents.

Their goal difference stands at +7 (41:34), with standout players Demirovic and Woltemade each having scored 8 goals so far. Stuttgart have scored 26 of their goals at home, where they’ve only failed to score in one of their 12 games this season.

However, Stuttgart come into this match having lost their last two home games against Monchengladbach and Wolfsburg, both by a 2-1 scoreline. It's likely that they will suffer a third consecutive loss at home, a first for coach Sebastian Hoeness since taking charge in April 2023.

On the positive side, Hoeness has remained unbeaten in three previous home games against Bayern, with two wins and a draw (one win as Stuttgart manager, the other win and draw while coaching Hoffenheim). Only one manager this century, Hans Meyer (2001-2008), has managed to go unbeaten in 4 consecutive home games against Bayern.

Stuttgart field the youngest starting XI in the Bundesliga this season, with an average age of 25, compared to Bayern’s slightly older average of 28.

Apart from their recent home defeats, Stuttgart managed a 1-0 win in the DFB Pokal quarterfinal against Augsburg, a 2-1 victory at Dortmund, and a surprising 1-1 draw away at Hoffenheim in the last round.

Key absences for Stuttgart include defender Dan-Axel Zagadou and forward El Bilal Toure, both sidelined due to injuries.

Bayern Munich's Domination

Bayern Munich enter this match as the clear favourite, and although they lost their most recent visit to Stuttgart and have struggled to beat coach Hoeness’ teams on the road, Bayern remain the dominant force in this match.

Bayern lead the Bundesliga with 58 points after 23 games, and they are on the verge of securing their 34th Bundesliga title — a record that is tough for any other team to match. Despite dropping points recently in a 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern are having one of their best seasons in recent history, and a win here would extend Bayern's lead over Bayer Leverkusen to 11 points.

With an incredible goal difference of +50 (69:19), Bayern have scored more than three goals per match on average, while their defence remains the best in the league, having kept clean sheets in 12 of their 23 matches. While they haven’t broken their own record of 74 goals scored after 23 games (set in 2021-2022), Bayern's attack is still a force to be reckoned with.

Harry Kane continues to impress in his second Bundesliga season, scoring 21 goals in 21 appearances. However, he has not scored in his last two matches, a pattern he also experienced in late September this season.

Bayern remain unbeaten in eight matches across all competition, and they recently eliminated Celtic in the UCL round of 16 and will face Leverkusen in the quarter-finals, an advantage given they won’t have to travel outside Germany. In their last Bundesliga match, Bayern dominated Frankfurt 4-0 at home.

The most significant absentee for Bayern is defender Dayot Upamecano, who is sidelined due to a muscle injury, while influential midfielder Joshua Kimmich is also a doubt for this match.

Head-to-Head

Bayern have dominated Stuttgart in their 111 encounters, winning 70 of them, with 22 draws and 19 losses. No team has defeated a single Bundesliga opponent more times than Bayern have defeated Stuttgart.

Recent meetings between the two have been high-scoring:

  • 19.10.24 – Bayern 4-0 Stuttgart
  • 04.05.24 – Stuttgart 3-1 Bayern
  • 17.12.23 – Bayern 3-0 Stuttgart
  • 04.03.23 – Stuttgart 1-2 Bayern
  • 10.09.22 – Bayern 2-2 Stuttgart

Betting Suggestions

  • Bayern to Win – Bayern are the clear favourite here, and considering their recent form and dominance in head-to-head matches, they are likely to take all 3 points.
  • Over 2.5 Goals – Given Bayern’s attacking strength and Stuttgart’s tendency to score at home, a high-scoring game is expected.
  • Both Teams to Score (BTTS) – Stuttgart has been scoring well at home, and Bayern has shown a tendency to concede goals in away matches.
  • Harry Kane to Score Anytime – Kane has been a prolific scorer, and despite not scoring in the last 2 games, he's still Bayern's main threat.
