Beat Sav in our weekend Premier League Prediction Competition

Published

Can you beat Planet Sport football ambassador Robbie Savage in this week's edition of our Premier League prediction competition?

With the international break interrupting Planet Sport’s Beat Sav competition in typically annoying fashion, it seems a long time since we had our last depleted round during the FA Cup quarter-final weekend.

With only four games played that week, it was all the more remarkable that our joint leaders, Suren Reddy and Sean Dentith, both predicted three Correct Scores (Burnley 2 Brentford 1, Luton 1 Forest 1 and West Ham 1 Villa 1) to end up with an impressive 9-point haul.

That was exactly nine points more than the ‘null points’ achieved by Planet’s Sport’s football ambassador Robbie Savage, who joined 29% of that round’s entrants in failing to score a single point.

WEEK 21 TOP SCORES

  1. 9 pts Suren Reddy (3 correct scores, + 0 match results)
  2. 9 pts Sean Dentith (3 correct scores, + 5 match results)
  3. 7 pts David Series (2 correct scores, + 1 match result)
  4. 7 pts Gordon Spark (2 correct scores, + 1 match result)
  5. 6 pts 12 entrants

TEAM SCORES AFTER 21 WEEKS

  2. 125 pts Robbie Savage (16 correct scores, + 77 match results)

  4.  103 pts Football365 (11 correct scores, + 70 match results)
  5.   87 pts TEAMtalk (6 correct scores, + 69 match results)

The competition remains open to all to enter your predictions for Week 22, which gets under way when the lunchtime game between Newcastle United and West ham United kicks off at 12.30pm Saturday, March 30th - and please note, there’s a full midweek programme as well this week, so there won’t be much time to take breath between this round and the next.

Entry remains dead easy and completely free, and all details can be found here

Week 22 predictions

The predictions of the five teams are listed below, so if you think you can do better, then just visit the competition page to enter your own predictions.

Newcastle Utd v West Ham Utd

  • Tipstrr: 3-1
  • Robbie: 1-2
  • Planet Sport: 2-2
  • TEAMtalk: 2-1
  • Football365: 2-2

After winning seven straight home league games before Christmas, Newcastle were then winless in four before their 3-0 triumph over Wolves at the beginning of the month. The Magpies should just about have the measure of West Ham, who are unbeaten in four league games, but who have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last nine.

Latest Betting:

  • 11/1 Correct Score 3-1
  • 4/5 Newcastle win

Bournemouth v Everton

  • Tipstrr: 2-1
  • Robbie: 1-1
  • Planet Sport: 1-1
  • TEAMtalk: 1-2
  • Football365: 2-0

Bournemouth have picked up seven points from three games against relegation candidates recently, and should take another huge step towards securing their own top-flight survival against a struggling Everton side that is winless in eleven outings (Drawn 5, Lost 6).

Latest Betting:

  • 7/1 Correct Score 2-1
  • 23/20 Bournemouth win

Chelsea v Burnley

  • Tipstrr: 3-0
  • Robbie: 2-0
  • Planet Sport: 3-1
  • TEAMtalk: 3-1
  • Football365: 3-0

Chelsea have shown glimpses of their capabilities in a flourishing FA Cup run alongside four unbeaten league games, and although relegation-doomed Burnley halted a 10-game winless streak by beating Brentford just before the international break, this trip to Stamford Bridge is likely to be another difficult afternoon for the Clarets.

Latest Betting:

  • 7/1 Correct Score 3-0
  • 2/7 Chelsea win

Nottingham Forest v Crystal Palace

  • Tipstrr: 2-1
  • Robbie: 1-1
  • Planet Sport: 2-1
  • TEAMtalk: 2-2
  • Football365: 1-2

Forest’s 4-point deduction has dragged them down below Luton Town, against whom they conceded a demoralising late equaliser just before the international break. Now in the bottom three, they must have this pencilled in as a must-win game against an inconsistent Palace team that has won just two of their eight league outings in 2024 and who are not yet out of the relegation woods themselves.

Latest Betting:

  • 8/1 Correct Score 2-1
  • 6/5 Forest win

Sheffield Utd v Fulham

  • Tipstrr: 1-3
  • Robbie: 0-1
  • Planet Sport: 1-3
  • TEAMtalk: 1-2
  • Football365: 0-3

Having won just three of their first 28 EPL games, it’s hard to see Sheffield United winning enough of their remaining ten to avoid the drop, and they will have their hands full on Saturday against a rejuvenated Fulham side that have won four of their last six, including 3-0 against Spurs last time out and a memorable victory at Old Trafford a month ago.

Latest Betting:

  • 11/1 Correct Score 1-3
  • 8/11 Fulham win

Tottenham Hotspur v Luton Town

  • Tipstrr: 4-1
  • Robbie: 2-1
  • Planet Sport: 4-1
  • TEAMtalk: 3-1
  • Football365: 4-1

Having won so impressively 4-0 at Aston Villa the week before, it was a shock to see Spurs draw a blank for the first time this season when losing 3-0 at Fulham last time out, and they will be looking for an immediate response against Luton, who have picked up just three drawn points form their last eight league games and have yet to keep a clean sheet on their Premier League travels.

Latest Betting:

  • 11/1 Correct Score 4-1
  • 1/5 Spurs win

Aston Villa v Wolves

  • Tipstrr: 2-1
  • Robbie: 2-1
  • Planet Sport: 2-1
  • TEAMtalk: 2-1
  • Football365: 2-1

Villa have conceded 13 goals in their last five home league games (won 2, lost 3) which includes their most recent 4-0 hammering at the hands of Spurs, and they can expect this Midlands derby to be another tough assignment against their local rivals who won at both Chelsea and Spurs last month before falling to a humbling 3-0 defeat at Newcastle four weeks ago.

Latest Betting:

  • 7/1 Correct Score 2-1
  • 8/13 Villa win

Brentford v Manchester Utd

  • Tipstrr: 1-3
  • Robbie: 0-2
  • Planet Sport: 1-2
  • TEAMtalk: 1-3
  • Football365: 1-2

Just ten points from 18 games have sent Brentford spiralling towards the relegation trapdoor, and their survival hopes are destined to take another dent against Manchester United, who continue to look vulnerable but who seem to find a way of grinding out enough points to keep their European qualification hopes alive.

Latest Betting:

  • 12/1 Correct Score 1-3
  • 23/20 Man Utd win

Liverpool v Brighton

  • Tipstrr: 4-1
  • Robbie: 3-0
  • Planet Sport: 3-0
  • TEAMtalk: 3-1
  • Football365: 4-2

The international break probably came at the just right time for Liverpool to lick their wounds after their dramatic FA Cup exit at Manchester United, and inconsistent Brighton could well be on the receiving end of the kind of Anfield performance that saw the Reds bang in 15 goals in four home wins before they were held 1-1 by Manchester City three weeks ago.

Latest Betting:

  • 12/1 Correct Score 4-1
  • 4/11 Liverpool win

Manchester City v Arsenal

  • Tipstrr: 3-2
  • Robbie: 1-2
  • Planet Sport: 1-1
  • TEAMtalk: 2-2
  • Football365: 2-2

The weekend finishes with one of the biggest games of the season, with Manchester City looking to end Arsenal’s winning sequence that has seen the Gunners find the net 33 times in their eight 2024 league outings. The champions are themselves unbeaten in 13 league games since losing at Aston Villa in early December, and it would be no surprise if this turns out to be another Super Sunday thriller.

Latest Betting:

  • 18/1 Correct Score 3-2
  • 17/20 Man City win
