Tipstrr’s Premier League Score Predictions - Game Week 3

Published

Tipstrr's fun prediction competition continues into the third weekend of the Premier League season

The Premier League season is already beginning to take shape, and last week’s results again illustrated what a tricky market Correct Score betting can prove to be.

Our friends at TEAMtalk managed to land a couple, but everyone else drew a blank, although Planet Sport Bet ambassador Robbie Savage did predict six of the nine outcomes correctly.

Just to keep tabs on things we’ll be showing our weekly and overall league tables, with three points being awarded for a correct score and one for each other correct outcome:

WEEK THREE SCORES

  • 9 pts TEAMtalk (2 correct scores, 3 outcomes)
  • 6 pts Robbie Savage ( 0 correct scores, 6 outcomes)
  • 5 pts Tipstrr (0 correct score, 5 outcomes)
  • 5 pts Football365 (0 correct scores, 5 outcomes)

OVERALL SCORES

  • 16 pts Robbie (2 correct scores, 10 outcomes)
  • 16 pts TEAMtalk (3 correct scores, 7 outcomes)
  • 15 pts Football365 ( 3 correct scores, 6 outcomes)
  • 10 pts Tipstrr (0 correct scores, 10 outcomes)

So, let’s jump straight in with a look at Week 3’s predictions, kicking off with Luton Town’s daunting trip to Stamford Bridge, where they take on a wounded Chelsea side on Friday night.

Tipstrr prediction: Chelsea 3 Luton Town 0

  • Robbie: 4-0
  • TEAMtalk: 4-2
  • Football365: 2-1

After their promising opening draw with Liverpool it all went horribly wrong for Chelsea at London Stadium last weekend, where a toothless attack and poor defending saw them go down 3-1 to West Ham, despite having a one-man advantage for the last third of the game.

Mauricio Pochettino will be looking for an immediate response, and his players will get a great chance to provide it against a Luton Town side who looked destined for a long difficult campaign if their opening 4-1 defeat at Brighton is anything to go by.

Latest Betting:

  • 6/1 Correct Score 3-0
  • 2/9 Chelsea win

Tipstrr prediction: Bournemouth 1 Tottenham 3

  • Robbie: 0-2
  • TEAMtalk: 1-2
  • Football365: 1-1

Bournemouth will be looking to bounce back from last week’s 3-1 defeat at Anfield, where they gave Liverpool plenty to think about when they scored an early opener, and already give the impression they will be no pushovers this season.

If the jury was out following Tottenham’s opening 2-2 draw at Brentford, then the verdict was much more positive after last week’s 2-0 home win against Manchester United, and it looks as if Ange Postecoglou can guide Spurs through their post-Harry Kane transition.

Latest Betting:

  • 12/1 Correct Score 1-3
  • 10/11 Tottenham win

Tipstrr prediction: Arsenal 2 Fulham 0

  • Robbie: 3-0
  • TEAMtalk: 3-1
  • Football365: 2-0

Arsenal join Manchester City and Brighton as the only teams to have won both of their opening two matches, and Mikel Arteta will be hoping that his side starts to click a bit more convincingly than in their narrow successes against Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.

The departure of Aleksandar Mitrovic to Saudi Arabia should help settle the Fulham camp, and they will certainly need to be more galvanised that they were in last week’s 3-0 home defeat to Brentford if they are to avoid a similar outcome at the Emirates.

Latest Betting:

  • 11/2 Correct Score 2-0
  • 2/9 Arsenal win

Tipstrr prediction: Brentford 1 Crystal Palace 1

  • Robbie: 2-1
  • TEAMtalk: 2-1
  • Football365: 3-0

Brentford’s impressive transformation under Thomas Frank shows no sign of stalling, and they will fancy their chances of following up last week’s impressive 3-0 win at Fulham with a similar result at home to another London rival, Crystal Palace.

After winning their opener at Sheffield United, Crystal Palace were far from disgraced in Monday’s 1-0 home defeat to Arsenal, with only a penalty breaching an Eagles’ defence that will prove a tough nut to crack even for Brentford’s dynamic brand of football.

Latest Betting:

  • 11/2 Correct Score 1-1
  • 12/5 Draw

Tipstrr prediction: Everton 2 Wolves 0

  • Robbie: 0-1
  • TEAMtalk: 1-1
  • Football365: 0-1

One or both of these teams will pick up their first points of the season in a game that already has the feel of a relegation six-pointer.

Both teams conceded four goals in last weekend’s defeats, but we won’t be expecting that many goals here with both teams looking to grind out a result, with Everton likely to did deeper in front of their own fans to take advantage of the toothless Wolves.

Latest Betting:

  • 10/1 Correct Score 2-0
  • 13/10 Everton win

Tipstrr prediction: Manchester Utd 4 Nottingham Forest 0

  • Robbie: 2-1
  • TEAMtalk: 2-0
  • Football365: 2-1

Manchester United failed to fire in their opening 1-0 win at Wolves and looked similarly out of sorts when losing 2-0 at Spurs last week, so Erik ten Hag will see this as an ideal chance to give a more dynamic performance.

Nottingham Forest acquitted themselves well in their opening 2-1 defeat at Arsenal and converted that promise into a much-needed home win against newly-promoted Sheffield United last weekend, but they will need to up their game another notch or two to avoid being dismantled at Old Trafford.

Latest Betting:

  • 12/1 Correct Score 4-0
  • 3/10 Manchester Utd win

Tipstrr prediction: Brighton 1 West Ham Utd 1

  • Robbie: 2-0
  • TEAMtalk: 3-1
  • Football365: 3-1

Brighton’s 4-1 win at Wolves last week saw the Seagulls join an small exclusive list of clubs to have scored four goals in each of their first two Premier League matches, but that 100% record might stall here against a tougher opponent.

West Ham’s unconvincing opening draw at Bournemouth was quickly converted into an impressive 3-1 dismantling of Chelsea last week, with the performance confirming that James Ward-Prowse could prove to be a very astute addition to the Hammers’ squad.

Latest Betting:

  • 8/1 Correct Score 1-1
  • 7/2 Draw

Tipstrr prediction: Burnley 1 Aston Villa 2

  • Robbie: 1-3
  • TEAMtalk:1-2
  • Football365: 0-2

Burnley have had to wait two weeks for their chance to bounce back from their unsurprising opening day defeat at the hands of Manchester City, and they will feel they have a better chance against the less daunting visit of Aston Villa.

However, Villa impressed in Sunday’s 4-0 win over Everton to put the previous week’s 5-1 defeat at Newcastle behind them, and they look good value to build on that performance at Turf Moor.

Latest Betting:

  • 7/1 Correct Score 1-2
  • 11/10 Aston Villa win

Tipstrr prediction: Sheffield Utd 0 Manchester City 4

  • Robbie: 0-3
  • TEAMtalk: 0-4
  • Football365: 0-4

Sheffield United might have expected to pick up points against their first two opponents, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest, and even though both defeats were by the odd goal, it suggests a difficult campaign.

The Blades’ hopes of a revival won’t be helped by the arrival of Treble winners Manchester City, who have hit the ground running with two impressive performances to see off Burnley and Newcastle without conceding a goal.

Latest Betting:

  • 9/1 Correct Score 0-4
  • 2/11Manchester City win

Tipstrr prediction: Newcastle Utd 3 Liverpool 1

  • Robbie: 2-1
  • TEAMtalk: 2-1
  • Football365: 3-2

Newcastle were rampant in their 5-1 demolition of Aston Villa two weeks ago and will feel unfortunate to have had to visit the Etihad in their first away game, although they made the champions work hard for their 1-0 win.

Liverpool were eventually good value for last week’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth, but the fact that they have conceded in each of their opening fixtures hints of familiar defensive shortcomings that the Magpies will be keen to expose, and we could well be in for another classic Newcastle-Liverpool clash.

Latest Betting:

  • 12/1 Correct Score 3-1
  • 23/20Newcastle win
