Tipstrr’s Premier League Score Predictions - Game Week 4

Published

Tipstrr's prediction competition carries into the fourth game week of the Premier League season

The Premier League season is already beginning to take shape, and although last weekend threw a few curve balls at us, your Tipstrr team managed to open our account by correctly calling Chelsea’s 3-0 home win against Luton and Crystal Palace’s 1-1 draw at Brentford.

Planet Sport Bet ambassador Robbie Savage did even better, getting three scores spot on and opening up a six-point gap at the top of our overall league table.

However, with just 29 games gone and 351 still to go, it can safely be said that’s it’s very early days:

WEEK THREE SCORES

  • 12 pts Robbie Savage (3 correct scores, 3 outcomes)
  • 10 pts Tipstrr (2 correct scores, 4 outcomes)
  • 7 pts Football365 (1 correct scores, 4 outcomes)
  • 5 pts TEAMtalk (0 correct scores, 5 outcomes)

OVERALL SCORES

  • 28 pts Robbie (5 correct scores, 13 outcomes)
  • 22 pts Football365 (4 correct scores, 10 outcomes)
  • 21 pts TEAMtalk (3 correct scores, 12 outcomes)
  • 20 pts Tipstrr (2 correct scores, 14 outcomes)

With no further ado, let’s take a look at Week 4’s predictions, with Luton Town once again kicking off proceedings with a Friday night clash that sees them welcome a rejuvenated West Ham team as their first Premier League visitors to Kenilworth Road.

Tipstrr prediction: Luton Town 1 West Ham Utd 3

  • Robbie: 1-2
  • TEAMtalk: 1-3
  • Football365: 1-2

Luton Town will be looking to open their account in their first game in front of their own fans after suffering back-to-back away defeats at the hands of Brighton and Chelsea.

However, those elusive first points might have to wait until after the international break, as high-flying West Ham arrive at Kenilworth Road buoyed by successive 3-1 wins against those same two opponents.

Latest Betting:

  • 12/1 Correct Score 1-3
  • 3/4 West Ham win

Tipstrr prediction: Sheffield Utd 1 Everton 1

  • Robbie: 0-1
  • TEAMtalk: 2-1
  • Football365: 1-0

With both of these teams yet to register their first point of the season, this clash already has all the hallmarks of a relegation six-pointer, and while it could easily be said to have 0-0 written all over it, we’re giving them each one converted chance.

Both teams have some cause for optimism, with Sheffield United taking Manchester City all the way last week, while Everton at least created goalscoring opportunities in their three defeats, even if they are yet to convert any of them.

Latest Betting:

  • 21/4 Correct Score 1-1
  • 21/10 Draw

Tipstrr prediction: Brentford 1 Bournemouth 1

  • Robbie: 2-0
  • TEAMtalk: 2-0
  • Football365: 3-0

Brentford’s unbeaten start has already indicated that last season’s top-half finish was no fluke, and they seem to provide the same dynamic brand of football with or without the services of Ivan Toney.

Bournemouth have performed better than their one-point tally from three games suggests, but at least registered their first win of the season by beating Swansea in the League Cup on Tuesday, and they look good for a hard-earned point here.

Latest Betting:

  • 13/2 Correct Score 1-1
  • 3/1 Draw

Tipstrr prediction: Burnley 1 Tottenham Hotspur 2

  • Robbie: 0-2
  • TEAMtalk: 1-3
  • Football365: 0-3

Burnley’s fairytale return to the Premier League has been christened with back-to-back home defeats at the hands of Manchester City and Aston Villa, and it’s hard to see that sequence changing when they entertain Ange Postecoglou’s rebranded Spurs side.

The Clarets could well get on the scoresheet against their visitors’ new-look defence, but Tottenham have looked more effective going forward despite (because of?) Harry Kane’s departure, and their encouraging start is likely to continue at Turf Moor .

Latest Betting:

  • 7/1 Correct Score 1-2
  • 17/20 Tottenham win

Tipstrr prediction: Chelsea 2 Nottingham Forest 1

  • Robbie: 3-1
  • TEAMtalk: 3-1
  • Football365: 2-2

After picking up just one point from their opening two games, Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Luton is hardly a barometer for success, so the jury is still out regarding their prospects under Mauricio Pochettino.

Forest opened their account with a last-gasp winner against Sheffield United two weeks ago, and only went down by the odd goal in their two away trips to Arsenal and Manchester United. They must feel they’ve killed a robin to be faced now by a trip to Stamford Bridge, and unfortunately they are likely to be faced with the same outcome.

Latest Betting:

  • 7/1 Correct Score 2-1
  • 4/11 Chelsea win

Tipstrr prediction: Manchester City 4 Fulham 0

  • Robbie: 2-0
  • TEAMtalk: 3-0
  • Football365: 3-0

Any home game against mid-to-low-table opposition could easily see Manchester City run riot on their day, and after being run close by Newcastle (1-0) and Sheffield United (2-1) the floodgates could be set to open on Saturday afternoon.

The champions might have to bide their time against a Fulham side, who have looked more resilient on their travels this term, winning 1-0 at Everton and picking up an unexpected 2-2 draw at title hopefuls Arsenal last weekend.

Latest Betting:

  • 9/1 Correct Score 4-0
  • 2/13 Manchester City win

Tipstrr prediction: Brighton 2 Newcastle Utd 2

  • Robbie: 3-2
  • TEAMtalk: 2-2
  • Football365: 1-1

This is billed as one of the most entertaining games of the weekend, with Brighton’s bright brand of football earning consecutive 4-1 wins over Luton and Wolves, before the wheels fell off somewhat in last weekend’s 3-1 home reversal against West Ham.

Newcastle will also be smarting after squandering a great opportunity to beat 10-man Liverpool last week, having gone down narrowly at Manchester City the week before. We can expect them to respond in positive fashion here, albeit at the expense of leaking more goals in what should be a good watch.

Latest Betting:

  • 10/1 Correct Score 2-2
  • 14/5 Draw

Tipstrr prediction: Crystal Palace 2 Wolves 0

  • Robbie: 2-1
  • TEAMtalk: 1-0
  • Football365: 0-1

Roy Hodgson has galvanised his Crystal Palace team into an effective organised unit capable of grinding out enough results to survive without ever setting the Premier League alight.

Wolves found their scoring boots in their midweek 5-0 dismantling of Blackpool in the League Cup, and will be keen to build on last weekend’s 1-0 win at hapless Everton, but they will find Palace to be made of sterner stuff at both ends of the pitch.

Latest Betting:

  • 7/1 Correct Score 2-0
  • 10/11 Crystal Palace win

Tipstrr prediction: Liverpool 2 Aston Villa 1

  • Robbie: 1-2
  • TEAMtalk: 2-3
  • Football365: 1-2

Buoyed by last week’s dramatic comeback win at Newcastle, Liverpool must learn how to cope without their suspended talisman Virgil van Dijk at the heart of a back four that has conceded in each of the opening three games.

That could well happen again on Sunday against a Villa side that soon bounced back from their opening day hammering at Newcastle to score 12 goals in their next three competitive outings. If the Reds’ front line can fire, they should just manage to eke out a tight win here, but it won’t be one-way traffic.

Latest Betting:

  • 7/1 Correct Score 2-1
  • 4/6 Liverpool win

Tipstrr prediction: Arsenal 3 Manchester Utd 1

  • Robbie: 3-1
  • TEAMtalk: 2-2
  • Football365: 3-1

Arsenal’s 100% start stalled unexpectedly in last week’s 2-2 home draw with Fulham, and they can ill-afford any more slip-ups if they are to cling on to Manchester City’s flying shirt tails through the opening phase of the season.

The same applies to Manchester United, who have won both of their home games, but were found wanting on their previous trip to London a fortnight ago, when Spurs eased to a 2-0 win. Unless United improve in all departments (and fast) then they can expect another long disconsolate journey north on Sunday night.

Latest Betting:

  • 11/1 Correct Score 3-1
  • 3/4 Arsenal win
