Catch up with Tipstrr's Premier League prediction competition as it enters week eight

Well, what a crazy week in the Premier League. With Wolves beating Man City, Luton winning at Everton, Palace taking three points from Old Trafford and Villa banging in six against Brighton, it was surprising that our four tipster teams were able to pull any rabbits out of the Correct Score hat.

Nevertheless ourPlanet Sport Bet ambassador Robbie Savage managed to predict two scorelines correctly, while your Tipstrr team predicted Newcastle’s 2-0 win against Sheffield United, allowing us to put a little daylight between ourselves and our friends atTEAMtalkand Football365.

WEEK SEVEN SCORES

  • 7 pts Robbie Savage (2 correct score, + 1 outcome)
  • 6 pts Tipstrr (1 correct score, + 3 outcomes)
  • 5 pts TEAMtalk (0 correct scores, + 5 outcomes)
  • 3 pts Football365 (0 correct scores, + 3 outcomes)

OVERALL SCORES (after 70 games)

  • 58 pts Robbie Savage (10 correct scores, + 28 outcomes)
  • 53 pts Tipstrr (6 correct scores, + 35 outcomes)
  • 52 pts TEAMtalk (6 correct scores, + 34 outcomes)
  • 45 pts Football365 (7 correct scores, + 24 outcomes)

With no Friday fixture this week, Game Week 8 kicks off when Luton Town play hosts to Tottenham Hotspur in Saturday’s lunchtime offering, with another nine games to follow ahead of the next international break.

Tipstrr prediction: Luton Town 0 Tottenham 4

  • Robbie: 0-2
  • TEAMtalk: 1-4
  • Football365: 1-3

Luton managed allay any fears that they would go winless all season by grabbing three deserved points from Everton last weekend, but the joy was short-lived when they were undone by a Burnley worldie in Tuesday’s rearranged clash.

Tottenham won’t mind being the beneficiaries of last weekend’s VAR howler that helped them beat Liverpool with a last-gasp winner. There’s no denying that Ange Postecoglou has got Spurs ticking, and they’re likely to emphasise that point with a comfortable win at Kenilworth Road

Latest Betting:

  • 18/1 Correct Score 0-4
  • 4/9 Spurs win

Tipstrr prediction: Burnley 2 Chelsea 1

  • Robbie: 1-2
  • TEAMtalk: 2-1
  • Football365: 2-1

It’s taken a while, but Burnley might be about to find their Premier League feet, and Jacob Larsen’s phenomenal winner at Luton on Tuesday might just be the catalyst that Vincent Kompany’s Clarets need.

They come against a Chelsea side that has been underperforming for Mauricio Pochettino, and while the three points gained in Monday’s 2-0 win at Fulham were a welcome relief, their deficiencies could be exposed again at a more passionate Turf Moor .

Latest Betting:

  • 12/1 Correct Score 2-1
  • 15/4 Burnley win

Tipstrr prediction: Everton 1 Bournemouth 2

  • Robbie: 2-0
  • TEAMtalk: 2-1
  • Football365: 0-2

Any optimism gained from Everton’s 3-1 league win at Brentford and their 2-1 League Cup success at Aston Villa evaporated in the opening half-hour of last week’s eventual 2-1 home loss at the hands of supposed whipping boys Luton Town.

They will again be expected to beat a visiting Bournemouth side who are yet to taste victory in seven attempts, but with this already having the feel of a relegation six-pointer, we expect the Cherries to rise to the occasion better than the home team.

Latest Betting:

  • 11/1 Correct Score 1-2
  • 11/4 Bournemouth win

Tipstrr prediction: Fulham 2 Sheffield Utd 0

  • Robbie: 2-1
  • TEAMtalk: 3-0
  • Football365: 1-1

The fact that Fulham’s two victories this season have come at the expense of struggling Luton and Everton suggest that they will again do just enough against relegation candidates to steer clear of the drop zone.

They should certainly do so again here against Sheffield United who responded well to their 8-0 humiliation against Newcastle, but were still second-best in last week’s 2-0 reversal at West Ham, and they can expect a similar outcome here.

Latest Betting:

  • 6/1 Correct Score 2-0
  • 8/13 Fulham win

Tipstrr prediction: Manchester Utd 1 Brentford 1

  • Robbie: 2-1
  • TEAMtalk: 2-2
  • Football365: 2-0

Four defeats in their opening seven games make this United’s worst start since 1989, and that’s before we factor in their two Champions league losses. Losing at home to Crystal Palace and Galatasaray in the last week suggests even a point will be welcome here.

The same could be said for Brentford, who arrive at Old Trafford with only one league win under their belts. They are yet to reach last season’s standards, but they only went down 1-0 here in April, and they will fancy sneaking a point from the under-pressure Red Devils.

Latest Betting:

  • 7/1 Correct Score 1-1
  • 31/10 Draw

Tipstrr prediction: Crystal Palace 1 Nottingham Forest 1

  • Robbie: 3-1
  • TEAMtalk: 1-1
  • Football365: 1-1

Roy Hodgson seems to have found a way for his Crystal Palace side to punch above their weight, and never more so that in last weekend’s 1-0 win at Manchester United.

However, they tend to be less effective against so-called lesser opposition, and they will find an energetic and organised Nottingham Forest side a tough nut to crack, with both teams probably happy to settle for a point.

Latest Betting:

  • 11/2 Correct Score 1-1
  • 9/4 Draw

Tipstrr prediction: Brighton 3 Liverpool 1

  • Robbie: 1-2
  • TEAMtalk: 2-3
  • Football365: 2-2

All of Brighton’s seven league games have produced at least four goals, although they could probably have done without being on the wrong end of last week’s 6-1 scoreline at Villa Park.

More goals are on the agenda with the arrival of a Liverpool team that has also been scoring freely, but have also conceded in all but one of their nine competitive outings this season. This could go either way, with both having been in action on Thursday, but we’re plumping for another bold showing from the Seagulls.

Latest Betting:

  • 16/1 Correct Score 3-1
  • 15/8 Brighton win

Tipstrr prediction: West Ham Utd 1 Newcastle Utd 2

  • Robbie: 2-1
  • TEAMtalk: 1-2
  • Football365: 1-3

West Ham’s only setbacks this term have come in their 3-1 defeats at the hands of Manchester City and Liverpool, which suggests they are not quite ready to rub shoulders with the top-flight elite just yet.

That might come to light again with the arrival of a rejuvenated Newcastle side that will still be buzzing after their 4-1 obliteration of PSG on Wednesday. This might feel like ‘after the Lord mayor’s show’ but the Magpies should still have enough in their locker to squeeze past the Hammers.

Latest Betting:

  • 7/1 Correct Score 1-2
  • 11/10 Newcastle win

Tipstrr prediction: Wolves 1 Aston Villa 3

  • Robbie: 1-1
  • TEAMtalk: 0-2
  • Football365: 0-2

Wolves upset the Premier League apple cart last weekend, throwing the title race wide open with their shock 2-1 win over Manchester City, although the fact that it came just a week after struggling for a point at Luton Town shines a light on their inconsistencies.

While turning Villa Park into a fortress, the Villans are less consistent on their travels. They were well beaten at Newcastle and Liverpool, but their successes at Burnley and Chelsea suggest they should have the measure of their hosts here.

Latest Betting:

  • 14/1 Correct Score 1-3
  • 21/20 Aston Villa win

Tipstrr prediction: Arsenal 2 Manchester City 1

  • Robbie: 1-2
  • TEAMtalk: 1-2
  • Football365: 2-1

Arsenal’s heavy defeats against Man City were ultimately the difference in last season’s title race, and Mikel Arteta will be anxious to get an early upper hand here. The Gunners could no doubt have done without their shock midweek reversal at Lens, but that might also provoke the right kind of reaction to take on the champions.

City won comfortably at Leipzig in Wednesday’s Champions League trip, but will still be smarting at last week’s defeat at Wolves. Everything is lined up for title-race humdinger, and we’re not afraid to stick our neck out and give Arsenal the nod to edge it.

Latest Betting:

  • 9/1 Correct Score 2-1
  • 15/8 Arsenal win
