A new normal for US sport

Published

Despite increasing coronavirus cases across the US, American sport is ready to return behind closed doors, and that means some of our leading tipsters are ready to kickstart their services on Tipstrr

The baseball anthem "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" carries with it a certain irony at the moment, because while the USA is attempting to reboot its mainstream sports, no-one will be taking anyone to any ball games any time soon, as social distancing restrictions persist across the US. Indeed, many people are questioning the resumption of sport at all across the pond, as the coronavirus situation in the States is arguably worse than it was when the NBA stopped the ball rolling by cancelling fixtures back in mid-March.

So rightly or wrongly, American sport is all set to resume a new normal, with modified schedules and condensed seasons to be played out over summer months.

  • NBA  Beginning on July 31st, regular season fixtures followed by playoffs are to be held in a condensed format in Orlando, Florida, with the NBA Finals scheduled for early October.
  • MLB  The baseball season rebooted this weekend and has been shortened to 60 regular season games per team, followed by an expanded 16-team play-off format, with the 7-game World Series scheduled for late October as usual.
  • NHL  Another condensed 24-team tournament sees the top four of each Conference play a round-robin format to decide seedings before playing a qualifier in a knock-out format to reach the Stanley Cup Final in late September.
  • NFL  At the moment, American Football authorities are determined that the season will commence in its full usual format on September 10th, with an optimistic intention to have spectators in their arenas. Only time will tell.
  • MLS  A World Cup-style tournament based in Orlando kicked off earlier this month, involving all 24 franchises in six groups of four, leading to a knock-out format and culminating in the MLS Final on August 11th

With all that American sport to add to our ever-expanding sporting calendar, it means a big welcome back to all of our tipsters who specialise in finding betting value in basketball and baseball.

Here's just a few to cast your eyes over, along with details of any trial membership deals on offer.

MLB baseball/ finally enjoyed its long-awaited opening day on Friday, and the season could hardly come quickly enough for Amerika's Game, who follows all of America's games with various degrees of success. But it is baseball that has proved to be this tipster's forte, providing an all-time yield of 11% from nearly 400 tips aimed solely at the value he finds in the MLB betting markets. If he can continue that kind of form, then it could be a productive few months for his followers between now and the World Series in late October.

No prizes for guessing how delighted USA Sports Wiseguys will be at the resumption of Major League baseball this week. America's favourite pastime represents almost half of the Wisguys' 3000+ selections that they have published since joining Tipstrr over two years ago. In that time, they have cleared over £2,700 profit to level £20 stakes, and their additional success in basketball and ice hockey makes this service particularly appealing to anyone looking to diversify their tipster portfolio with a multi-sport expert.

Sometimes it can help to deconstruct a tipster service to identify the best part of what he has to offer. Bexx Tips is a relative newcomer to Tipstrr, having only launched his service in April, and at first glance that overall 4.3% ROI does not send the pulse soaring. However, double-digit yields in baseball, ice hockey and esports suggest he has an eye for value in these sports, and with the MLB kickstarting its season this weekend, and the NHL to follow next week, this might just be a service worth following.
