Match preview for Paris Saint-Germain FC vs FC Metz
It's not often that PSG lose two Ligue 1 games on the bounce, and even rarer to lose their opening two games of a campaign, an unwanted fate that they haven't experienced since the mid-1980's. Their opening day 1-0 defeat at lens, though still a shock, was perhaps excusable as they had to field a hugely understrength team because of a Covid-19 outbreak within the squad. Most of their top players returned for Sunday's home game with Marseille, however, an ill-tempered affair that saw 17 players receive cards, five of which were red following an ugly brawl in the closing minutes of PSG's 1-0 defeat.
Metz have also kicked off their season with two consecutive 1-0 defeats at the hands of Monaco and Lille, and the big question for them is whether they can take advantage of the out-of-sorts champions, or whether they will be on the receiving end of a huge backlash from the wounded Parisiens.
The betting market suggests it is likely to be the latter, and it's certainly not easy to imagine PSG losing a third straight game.
