Match preview for Burnley FC vs Crystal Palace FC
Burnley face Crystal Palace on Monday at Turf Moor. Burnley are second bottom in the Premier League with two points after 7 games played. Sean Dyche spent less than a million pounds in the transfer window and can only hope to avoid relegation this season, after their good performance last season when they were able to finish 10th. Their two points come from two goalless draws against West Brom and against Brighton and in the rest of the games they suffered defeats. Offence seems to be Burnley’s main problem this season, Chris Wood who scored 14 goals last season managed to score only one goal this season in the opening game while Jay Rodriguez has yet to find the net, although to be fair, he has been out injured for periods of the season.
After eight games, Crystal Palace are 8th in the Premier League with 13 points and normally they shouldn’t have any relegation worries. Roy Hodgson’s contract will expire at the end of the season, but given Palace’s excellent start of the season he may yet remain longer. Before the international break, Crystal Palace managed a surprising 4-1 win against Leeds United. Crystal Palace are an inconsistent team that has been unable to string two consecutive wins together and because of this inconsistency they probably won’t be able to keep their curent position. Just as in previous seasons Wilfred Zaha is Palace’s best player and this season he has already scored 5 goals and managed two assists. Connor Wickham, Nathan Ferguson, Wayne Hennessey and Joel Ward are all injured. while Luka Milivojevic is suspended.
