Match preview for Paris Saint-Germain FC vs RB Leipzig
Paris Saint-Germain face RB Leipzig on Tuesday night at Parc des Princes in game week 4 of the UEFA Champions League group stage. The two teams are part of Group H along Manchester United and Istanbul Basaksehir.
After eight consecutive wins in Ligue 1, PSG finally lost in their last fixture away against Monaco, 2-3 after having a 2-0 lead. Even though they suffered the third defeat of the season the French champions are still leaders in Ligue 1 with 24 points, 2 points in front of Lille. In the Champions League, however, they have been struggling this season, after playing the final last season and the RB Leipzig game is a must-win match for PSG if they are to have any hope of reaching the knockout rounds. Thomas Tuchel’s team is 3rd in the group with only three points after three games, the same as the 4th placed Istanbul Basaksehir and three points behind Manchester United and RB Leipzig in what promises to be a tight group. Juan Bernat, Julian Draxler, Thilo Kehrer and Mauro Icardi are injured while Presnel Kimpembe and Idrissa Gueye are suspended.
RB Leipzig were the revelation of last season in the Champions League, reaching the semifinals where they lost against tonight’s opponents PSG. This season they had two good games and one horrible one so far. They were humiliated by Manchester United at Old Trafford and ended up losing 0-5 but they recovered well from that loss and won the next Champions League game against PSG at home 2-1, thanks to goals from Nkunku and Forsberg. Leipzig managed a draw in their last Bundesliga game,1-1 away against Eintracht Frankfurt and are currently in 4th place, only two points behind the leaders Bayern Munchen. Lukas Klosterman and Konrad Leimer are injured and Hee-Chan Hwang is uncertain.
