Game week 16 of the German Bundesliga kicks off with an enticing top five clash between Union Berlin and Bayer Leverkusen. A win for Union will bring them within a single point of their visitors, while victory for Leverkusen would put them just one point behind league leaders Bayern Munich.

Union Berlin suffered a shock cup exit at home to Paderborn just before Christmas, but in the league they have lost just one of their last fourteen games (Won 6 Drawn 7), and if they had managed to convert just three of those draws into wins they would be hot on Bayern's heels at the top of the table.

Leverkusen eased into the next round of the DFB Pokal with a 4-1 romp against Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday, a result that stopped the rot of three winless Bundesliga outings that saw them lose to Bayern Munch and Eintracht, while last weekend they were only able to draw 2-2 at home to struggling Werder Bremen.
