How to bet baseball with Jwint815
We wanted to take some time and share some thoughts on our logic on betting on the MLB. Many people find baseball to be one of the more difficult sports to bet on with the number of games and the unpredictability of the MLB. With 162 games for every team, you will see the typical hot and cold streaks with every team throughout the season. Below is what we look for at Jwint815 when placing our bets on the MLB.
1. The Pitching Matchup - This is without a doubt the number one thing to look at and is a major factor in how oddsmakers will set the lines. It's always important to research the starting pitchers recent outings and how they're trending. The value of a MLB pick is 80-90% dependant on the value that you're getting in the starting pitcher. The other comes from the team itself and how they have been playing. Let me give you a quick comparison. David Price of the Boston Red Sox has been known as one of the games greatest pitchers. The Red Sox paid a pretty penny for him and he is currently at 11-8 with a 4.19 ERA. Whenever he is on the mound for the Red Sox, they have been a heavy -210 to -300 favorite. He has been over valued by oddsmakers this year because of who he was in the past. I'm not saying that Price is no longer a good pitcher. He indeed is. However, you find good value on taking the other team when Price is on the mound and this has worked well for us this year. On the other side of things, I would like to point out Chris Tillman of the Baltimore Orioles and Danny Duffy of the Kansas City Royals. Tillman is 15-4 with a 3.46 ERA and Duffy is 10-1 with a 2.73 ERA. Oddsmakers have definitely caught on to these two that are having outstanding years. However, there is still good value when either of these players are on the mound. Both will likely be favorites but they're nearly guaranteed winners with a 25-5 record combined between the two of them.
2. Look for streaky teams - A HUGE part of sports gambling and gambling in general is trying to get on a hot streak. Teams will go hot and cold over the course of the season. We like to look for teams that are going to make a surge and try to jump on them early. The Kansas City Royals have been on a 6 game win streak and we were expecting them to make a late season charge. The World Series Champs are too strong to not finish at least close to a playoff spot. We have been betting them consistently as they're typicall slight favorites or underdogs in their games. Another thing to look for is teams that are solid but are on the verge of being swept in a series. St. Louis Cardinals, Toronto Blue Jays, Baltimore Orioles etc. Whenever you see these teams on a 3 game losing streak, its a good time to get some action on them. These teams are just too strong to go on a long losing streak.
