WXL Selections for September 17th

Tranmere v Peterborough

After a sluggish start to the season Peterborough have now clicked in to top gear – winning their last 5 in all competitions scoring 17 goals in the process. Top scorer blasted back to form last time out by opening the scoring in the 6-0 rout of Rochdale, before completing his hattrick before the hour mark. Tranmere haven’t won since beating beleaguered Bolton in August and have been on the receiving end of 5-0 hammerings the last twice Posh have paid them a visit. Now in the play-off places Peterborough will have their sights firmly set on the top of the table and boss (once again) Darren Ferguson will not want a slip up here against a side struggling to get to grips with life in the 3rdtier

Selection: 1pt on Peterborough -1 Asian Handicap - 2.00 with Various

Exeter v Port Vale

Vale have won just once on the road in their last 13 road trips being winless in all of their last 7 – they look to provide the perfect opponents for table toppers Exeter to continue their fine form and pick up another 3 points. The home side needed an injury time equalizer from top scorer Nicky Law (4 in 7) to snatch a point against newly promoted Leyton Orient on Saturday which should provide a wake-up call to them ahead of this one. I was expecting the league leaders to be odds on in this one, so I think the even money available represents value.

Selection: 1pt on Exeter to beat Port Vale – 100/30 with Betway

Dorchester v Taunton

I like to keep an eye on these lower league sides that just missed out on promotion in the prior season – and Taunton fit that category after their 2ndplace in 2018/19. This season started terribly with 3-0 & 4-0 defeats – but then followed a run of 3 successive wins scoring 3 goals in each victory. Two back to back draws have stalled their progress but this represents a fantastic opportunity to get back to winning ways. The hosts have won twice so far this season, on the opening day and in their latest outing. Those wins sandwiching 4 successive defeats shipping 12 goals in the process – also the wins only came against sides with a combined 1 win between them – this is a much tougher assignment. The corresponding fixture last season ended in a 2-1 win for Taunton and I’m happy to take odds against about a similar outcome here tonight.

Selection: 1pt on Taunton to beat Dorchester – 63/50 with Marathon Bet
