APRIL POST-MORTEM

A subdued start to the month, with a handful of losers & a few decent-priced places, until Sam Brown prevailed, at 28/1 on Grand National day, with Dermot McLoughlin's Freewheelin' Dylan (50/1) just failing to reach the places in the main event.

Moving on, the likes of Queens Gamble (ADV 20/1) helped keep the wolves at bay, in mid-month.

As George Orwell said, “It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen.”

They could well have been, on Easter Monday, with Dermot McLoughlin's Lord Lariat, advised in this column @ 66/1, a few days previously, never looking like getting beaten in the Irish National at Fairyhouse.

The rest of the month was never likely to get near that sort of return, but ended with a PROFIT of £180 for stakes of £156, realising a return on investment (ROI) of over 115%

Profit, profit & more profit!

An absolutely disastrous Flat season, with April to September realising an horrendous LOSS of about £260!

However, with the Jumps getting into full swing, matters have improved significantly. A few winners, along with any number of near misses, saw a marginal PROFIT in October.

However, things began to take off thereafter, with November seeing a PROFIT of OVER £200, including these little beauties:

Tibbie Dunbar WON 18/1

Oriental Lilly WON 7/1

War Lord WON 6/1

Just Call Me Al WON 7/2

Blazing Khal WON 6/1

Special Cadeau WON 11/2

Dans Le Vent WON 16/1

Dolphin Square WON 15/2

Due to illness, December was rather quiet, with just 9 bets, returning a PROFIT of about £27.

Returning to health, 2022 came in with a bang, courtesy, on New Year's Day, of:

Dolphin Square WON 28/1

Oud Metha Bridge WON 20/1

A week later, Prime Venture. running out a 20/1 WINNER of Sandown's Veterans' 'Chase did the PROFITS no harm at all.

The great form continues, with Win My Wings, a 28/1 WINNER at Exeter yesterday (11.01.22).

Less than a fortnight in, PROFIT for 2022 stands at over £280, with an ROI of 435%.

Sign up now, & let's make this a year to remember!

THE GLORIOUS UNCERTAINTY!

Some rather mixed fortunes of late.

A couple of good shouts on Saturday, with  Perfect Myth (advised at 14/1) looking all over the winner at the 2nd last in the Mares' Hurdle at Wincanton, only for The White Mouse to saunter past on the run-in.

Euchen Glen could finish no better than mid-division in the November Handicap, but owes us nothing.

The Badger Beers 'Chase at Wincanton was a different story. Kim Bailey's game performer, El Presente continued his successful run, getting up in the shadow of the post – a TERRIFIC 11/1 WINNER!

A few subsequent disappointments, including a huge (failed) gamble on Captain Aulmes at Ffos Las on Sunday (25/1 into 10/1) rather undid that good work.

Just one runner (a loser) at Chepstow on Monday, but my previous “Rose Loxton” post realised a couple of WINNERS  at 5/4 and 7/2, with the double returning a shade over 9/1.

And so we continue...

ROSE LOXTON HONOURED AT CHEPSTOW

Rose Loxton, who succumbed to cancer, at a mere 59 years of age,  in August, was the groom that looked after Big Buck's and was the essential element behind the dominance of the 4-time Stayers' Hurdle winner.

Additionally, a fine trainer of Hunters 'Chasers in her own right, Mrs. Loxton has a Maiden Hurdle and a NH Flat Race named after her on Monday's Chepstow card, sponsored throughout by Andy Stewart, owner of Big Buck's.

Given the close association between the trio, Paul Nicholls would doubtless love to win these 2 races, along with the opening Maiden Hurdle, with Andy Stewart's bumper winner, Seelotmorebusiness, rated a decent prospect.

At the likely prices, I can't bring myself to tip 'em, but don't say you weren't warned:

12:30 Chepstow     Seelotmorebusiness     Evs      WON 5/4

3:45  Chepstow     Brewers Project    8/13               Stuffed

4:15  Chepstow     Chavez        5/4                            WON 7/2
