Why should you choose Speed Figures for your betting tips?
I've been successfully betting on horses for over two decades - however the game changer for me was the advent of easily accessible sectional timings and race videos. I like to think that speed figures have changed looking at horse form from an art to a science.
No longer is it necessary to rely on a gut feeling about how good a particular race or performance was - having access to accurate timings has changed all that. Now, immediately after a race, I have actual evidence as to how each horse can perform in those conditions. Using this data I compare the field in each race and calculate which horses should be the actual favourite or represent spectacular value at the prices.
Now, I said its a science, but its obviously not an exact science - there are a thousand variables that can stop the best horse winning (illness, bad ride, the 100/1 shot falling and hampering your pick) but over the years my bets have shown a very healthy return.
Usually there will be 2-4 tips a day (sometimes more on a Saturday and sometimes Sunday racing provides little appeal and I give it a miss). I tend to publish selections between 9 and 10.30 am when the very early prices have stabilized so, unlike some tipsters on other websites, I don't rely on odds that halve before my customers can get them.
If I am so great why do I post tips?
I have been restricted by every major bookmaker (technically not a ban just max bet restricted to pennies). I am grateful that there are new bookies entering the market quite regularly, and for a really strong fancy I can go still go to a betting shop, but otherwise I can only use Betfair, Smarkets and other exchanges. Not a problem, I can get my odds before posting here so it doesn't hurt my bottom line if others profit too. But, essentially, the main reason I like to share my research is to stick two fingers up to the bookmakers who will no longer take my bets!
Why are most tips each way?
It's true that betting the tips as win only makes for a higher return, however, betting each way provides a safety net against a run of 2nd places and therefore requires a smaller betting bank. It is up to you how to bet based on how comfortable you are with risk, each way will provide a smoother profit curve, win only will have more minus days but overall bigger pluses.
Oh, and please bet responsibly.
